Niswi Nishiimeyag (Three Sisters)

Niswi Nishiimeyag (Three Sisters)

11 x 14" Print, 2020, acrylic

Represents an Indigenous agricultural practice where the corn, beans, and squash all help each other grow and lean on one another for support. In the acrylic painting the bean is Dene, the squash is Tori, and the corn is myself. These Indigenous women depicted were my best friends and sisters, who had been there supporting me since day one in first year university. We all chose to move away from our hometowns to Vancouver, BC, and all followed our educational dreams and pursuits.
